Goodbye // Message From the Editors

Goodbye // Message From the Editors

Attention please,

These are your editors speaking! As we begin our descent into June, please ensure that all electronic devices are stowed away and seatbelts are fastened. On behalf of the VictoriaVoice team, we want to thank all of our dedicated readers for supporting us this year. And to our writers: thank you for making our job as editors a blessing. We are so happy to have gotten to meet and work with this team — you are all so talented and we can't wait to see what you write next :-)

Since joining in 2023, we have been endlessly dreaming and brainstorming what the VictoriaVoice could look like. Now, all that brainstorming is coming to a close. This year, we have published 25+ articles, revitalized our school podcast, and had many breakdowns over templates and photo files (Fran especially…). We had lots of meetings discussing our three pillars: writing, marketing, and podcasting! But ultimately, we accomplished something greater: community, acceptance, and creativity.

Next year will mark the ten year anniversary of the VicVoice, which will be run by Azalea Guan and Deniz Eivazi Ziaei, along with Max Jiminez as our first ever Head-of-Podcast! We are so excited to see what you’ll do.

So on behalf of the editors, thank you for choosing to fly with the VictoriaVoice.

Sincerely,

Vye and Fran

Upcoming flights include:

Vye, continuing their search for meaning at the University of Alberta where they will either pursue physics, agriculture, museum studies, or whatever else catches their eye! No matter what they study, they'll be taking the world by storm. Land or sea // the world's my oyster, I'm the pearl // No ordinary girll!

Fran will be heading a *shocking* five minutes away from Victoria, attending MacEwan University for their BFA Music Theatre Performance program, where she’ll spend her days singing and dancing away. “What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time I tried so hard…” - LINKIN PARK, In The End.

About the editors:

Vye Zersikov (they/she) has been writing articles for The VicVoice since early 2023, and has attended Victoria since 2021. You might find them hidden deep in their room calling friends (summoning ancient evils), studying (gazing into a foggy crystal ball), or writing (trying to transmogrify a page of scribbles into a polished article, minutes before the deadline). They enjoy bouldering, reviewing movies, hiking, and camping. Friendship is easily gained, as long as Vye can still disappear for a few days, unprompted.

@yumm.plastic

Francesca Scarpella (she/her) has been writing for The VicVoice since February 2023 and has been attending Victoria School since 2018. On a typical day, you can probably find her singing her heart out (and annoying the neighbors - sorry Linda), studying, and listening to Oasis, Morrissey, and Pink Floyd. She enjoys singing, singing, and - how odd! - singing! “Haven’t you heard it’s a battle of words? And who’ll deny it’s what the fighting is all about?” - Pink Floyd, Us and Them.
