Artist Interview: Gabriel Enweazu

Artist Interview: Gabriel Enweazu

To kick off the last week of Black History Month, I interviewed the winner of NAIT’s Got Talent 2020, Gabriel Enweazu. Gabriel is currently in his third year of the business program at NAIT.

How did you get into singing?

I started singing when I was eleven and I’d say it comes from within. So I let it out, said “let’s give it a try”.

Do you write your own music? What do you like to sing?

I write as well, but that’s on the low. Something is coming up soon but for now I just do covers. Depending on my mood I like to sing Andra Day, Alicia Keys. Beyoncé is cool. For genres, I think RnB, maybe Afropop.

What’s your favourite part about singing?

Performing. I really like interacting with people.

What advice do you have for young Black artists in Edmonton?

I would say they should just keep working hard and doing their thing. It’s really not easy. Do you. Don’t give up.
