The Democrats' Resolution; a Declaration of Their Own

Recently, the president of the United States declared the “humanitarian crisis at the southern border” as an emergency in order to collect money from other sources than the funds he was denied after the Democrats failed to comply to his demands.

After this strong move of Trump’s, the Democratic party decided they couldn’t standby and watch Trump rob the nation thereby making a declaration of their own. A resolution against Trump that by only hours after it was released had collected hundreds of co-sponsors. Upon learning about this Republican Nancy Pelosi ordered a vote in both Democratic and Republican-held Senates. Later, she revealed her plan with Joaquin Castro to convince members of the Republican party to sign the bill refusing Trump his ways. Saying “the president of the United States is declaring a national emergency to honour an applause line in a rally.”

“This is a historic power grab and it will require historic unity by members of congress- Republican and Democrat, liberal and conservative- to counteract the president’s parasitic movement.'‘ Joaquin Castro said on this topic. Him and Pelosi hope to win over the Republican house considering the expected losing of the bill in the Senate versus the expected passing of said bill in Democratic Senate.

Afterward, Trump claimed that he didn’t need to declare emergency to receive these funds but considering he is in eager anticipation of the building of the fence, but he did so to “get it done faster.”

“Not only is he disrespecting the legislative branch and the constitution of the United States, he is dishonoring the office in which he serves,” a Democratic citizen in California stated.
